On a Tuesday this June, Rosa reads one report over coffee, types "send them," and drives her daughter to swim practice. The books for sixteen clients are current to yesterday. It took her most of a year to stop finding that strange.
Rewind to last September. Rosa kept the books for eight Omaha businesses out of a shared office on Farnam Street: two restaurants, a roofing crew, an HVAC outfit, a dental practice. Month end meant twelve hour days. Her regional bank had no export worth the name, so she downloaded statements page by page. Clients handed her receipts in gallon bags. She chased overdue invoices politely twice, then quietly gave up, because chaser number three felt rude and she had filings due. The switch
A bookkeeper she knew from a QuickBooks meetup mentioned she'd hired a molted, the way she'd mention a new junior. Rosa didn't buy it. Software that sends emails, sure. The first 24 hours
15:47. Invoice #1042, nine days of her own soft chasing behind it. The molted reviewed the thread and drafted a firmer note, still polite, with a payment link and a due date. She okayed it before her 4:30 and it went out.
16:31. Two customers it recognized as genuinely struggling. It proposed payment plans instead of pressure, terms drafted safe, queued for her approval.
02:13. A payment landed. $4,380, invoice #1042. Receipt sent on the spot, books updated, thread closed.
06:40. It rebuilt the aging report from scratch and flagged that DSO had room to drop four days if the plans went out.

The report
The report was four lines long and read like a competent employee wrote it. One payment in at 2:13 in the morning, receipt already sent. Two payment plans queued, say the word. Rosa read it twice, checked the ledger to make sure it wasn't lying, and it wasn't. She typed "send them." Then she sat at her kitchen table and ate breakfast sitting down, which she realized she hadn't done on a month end week since the dental practice signed.
Months later
Rosa is on the Pro plan now, $51 flat for two agents. One molted chases and reconciles across her clients, logging into the bank portal with its own browser and matching hundreds of lines a day, mismatches flagged with context. Another handles the filings: state portals filled well before deadlines, receipts saved, payroll reports pulled and prepped for the CPA. She'd been budgeting an $80K hire for this spring. She took eight new clients instead and kept the office small on purpose. Every Monday, each client gets a thirteen week cash flow brief with her name on it.
The practice doubled; her hours didn't.
