The stream ended at 11:40pm. Gus started scrubbing at 11:55. Three hours and twelve minutes of a variety streamer talking over lobby music, and somewhere in there were maybe five moments worth forty seconds each. He watched at double speed with a finger on the arrow key, in a spare bedroom in Boise with the window unit rattling. By 2:30am he had six timestamps and a headache. He still had to cut, caption, and schedule before the morning posting window, then update the views spreadsheet for three creators who pay per 100k, then screenshot everything because one of them disputes numbers. The DMs from streamers he meant to pitch sat unanswered for two weeks. He was actually clipping maybe two hours a day. The other ten went to everything around the clipping.

The switch
Another clipper in a Discord he half trusts posted a screenshot of a mission report and said the first 24 hours were free. Gus assumed it was another dashboard he'd abandon in a week. But the trial was 24 hours, setup was three clicks, no server, nothing to install, so he gave it the smallest job he had: watch tonight's stream and timestamp anything clippable. If it flagged garbage, he'd cancel before breakfast and lose nothing but a login.
The first mission
23:52, twelve minutes after the stream ended, the VOD was watched end to end: fourteen moments timestamped, each with a line on why it works. 00:07, hooks suggested for the top six, ranked by potential, and Gus would later admit two of them were better than his. 00:16, titles and captions drafted in the creator's voice, close enough that he checked whether it had read the chat. It had. 00:22, a posting plan built around peak hours for each platform, staggered so the clips wouldn't cannibalize each other. 00:26, the report landed: editing queue ready, six cuts recommended, one moment flagged as a possible repost later in the week.
The report
Gus read the report at half past midnight, still at his desk, forty six minutes after the stream ended. Fourteen timestamps, ranked, with reasons. The part of the job he hated most was simply done, faster than he could have scrubbed the first half hour. He typed four words: cut the top six. Then he turned off the desk lamp and went to bed before one, which he could not remember doing since he started this business.
Months later
The molted runs the whole post stream grind now, and the daytime admin too. Twelve finished clips scheduled across three platforms at peak slots. Views tallied against each contract, invoices drafted with screenshots attached, so the disputing creator stopped disputing. The chronic late payer got nudged with receipts, politely, until he paid. Five growing streamers got pitched before anyone else noticed them; two signed. It even caught a pattern Gus had missed: clips that took more than three seconds to reach the moment were dying in retention, no matter how good the moment was. He had been pricing out a part-time VA at a grand a month just to handle the admin. He never hired one. His roster went from three creators to eight, and he still cuts every clip himself. He only watches the good parts now.
